It's shaping up to be a long, hot summer (fingers crossed; I definitely just jinxed it) so this week we're sharing our favourite books to keep energetic & inquisitive children entertained.
Learn about the cool plants and flowers in your garden in Usborne's Garden Sticker & Colouring Book (€9.40) or press a button and hear (!) the many songs and sounds of both tropical and garden birds in Sounds of Nature: World of Birds (€17.95). SQUAAAAAWWK.
Our top staff favourite has to be Naturama - Open Your Eyes to the Wonders of Irish Nature (€23) written by Michael Fewer and illustrated by Melissa Doran. It's a beautiful book detailing the flora and fauna of Ireland with vibrant imagery. "Discover the magic on your doorstep"? Sign us up.
Who doesn't love scribbling? Nobody we know. The Scribble Book (€10.60) by Hervé Tullet is the perfect remedy for restlessness during the summer holidays. Readers are tasked on every page; to feed a hungry monster with scribbles, for example. Sounds tiring.
Need a before-dinner activity? Look no further than Let's Make Some Great Placemat Art (€10.50). You can make a masterpiece while waiting for your fish fingers, and then use that masterpiece as a placemat.
Not enough placemats? Hungry for more? Then Let's Make More Placemat Art (€10.50) is here to save the day.
Book of the Week #22
Because activity books are not just for children, this week's book of the week is Outside the Lines: An Artists' Colouring Book for Giant Imaginations. This varied colouring book was curated by Souris Hong-Porretta and features the work of Keith Haring. Shepard Fairey and AIKO.
See you next week!
