Posted by NationalGalleryShop 30/07/2018 0 Comment(s)

Stop the lights. We have two free events taking place in the shop this August that we simply must tell you about.

Passion for Taschen event \ FREE \ 6pm \ 23 August

You are cordially invited to join us for an evening to celebrate our relationship with distinguished art-book publisher, Taschen - and, more specifically - the release of David Hockney; a bigger book. There will be drinks courtesy of the event sponsors - Aperol Spritz, sweet treats from our friends at Brambles and an exciting print demo from collaborative artist duo Adrian + Shane which is not to be missed.

Storytime \ FREE \ 11:30am \ 18 August

Storytime is back and the theme this month is Artists and Painters. Come in and grab yourself a cushion for an hour-long interactive storytime with professional storyteller Ruth Concannon in the Gallery Shop. The more the merrier.

Book of the Week #26

This week's Book of the Week is Seamus Heaney 100 Poems. Publishers Faber & Faber released the anthology in June to coincide with the opening of the major new exhibition in Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre at College Green entitled Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again

Seamus Heaney 100 Poems is a collection of the late Nobel Laureate's best-known and most celebrated poems as well as some potential new favourites. "Choosing the poems for this book was a very special process for our family, and a poignant one. Reading my father's 12 original volumes - from Death of a Naturalist to Human Chain - and selecting our favourites gave us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the work again, hear his voice and remember moments from our shared past." - Catherine Heaney

Each week you'll find a new book of the week beside the till, alongside the previous week's title, both of which will be on sale with 10% off for their fortnight in the spotlight.

Last week's title was Sally Rooney's Conversations with Friends

See you next week!
