Delaunay 'Homage to Blériot' Silk Chiffon Scarf
In 1909, the French aviator and engineer Louis Blériot made the first flight across the English channel. This silk scarf from Fox & Chave is printed with details from the painting 'Homage to Blériot' (1914) by the French artist Robert Delaunay (1885-1941). Associated with the Cubists and Der Blaue Reiter, he was inspired by colour theory and co-founded the Orphism movement with his wife, the artist Sonia Delaunay.
The painting reflects his influences with its pure bright colour and abstracted, geometric forms. You can see an aircraft, propeller and the Eiffel Tower in this dynamic explosion of colour and movement.
