A View of the Rye Water near Leixlip Canvas Print
Davis chose a spot far-removed from the industry associated with the Rye Water and River Liffey around Leixlip. Human activity is suggested only by the whitewashed farm building glimpsed between the trees. Davis painted the picture on one of his return visits to Ireland, perhaps with his wife, who was from Co. Kildare. He is best known for his views around Liverpool, in Wales and in Scotland.
