Collection: Harry Clarke

Born in Dublin on St. Patrick’s Day in 1889, Harry Clarke is one of Ireland’s most celebrated artists, renowned for his breathtaking stained glass and intricate book illustrations. His career was primarily dedicated to stained glass, creating over forty stunning commissions for churches and religious houses across Ireland, as well as works in the UK, US, and Australia. He also produced a select number of secular stained glass pieces, most notably The Geneva Window (1926-1930), inspired by literature.

Following the passing of his father in 1921, Clarke took over the family stained glass business, renaming it ‘Harry Clarke Studios.’ His artistic vision and masterful craftsmanship solidified his legacy in both religious and secular art. Tragically, he fell ill with tuberculosis in 1929 and, after seeking treatment in Switzerland, passed away in 1931.

Today, Harry Clarke’s extraordinary work continues to captivate audiences worldwide. His legacy lives on through his stained glass masterpieces, illustrations, and the continued appreciation of his unique artistic style.
