The Swineherd Art Print
The Swineherd Art Print
In Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales, a prince who disguises himself as a swineherd to woo an arrogant princess, who spurns his offering of a rose and a nightingale. She rejects his gifts, preferring to pay for toys that he creates with kisses. The prince, revealing his true identity, scorns her for her shallowness. Clarke depicts the prince elegantly attired in embellished royal attire. The glowing ultramarine blues in the background are a hallmark of Clarke's work.
